Winner Announcement: Congrats to Lisa R!

Primetimes Teachable Moments: Secrets of The Mountain Sophistishe mommy blog Early last month I as well as several of the Walmart Moms had a chance to sit down with the producers of the Secrets of the Mountain for an exclusive viewing in NYC. Secrets of the Mountain is a television movie produced by Walmart and P&G. I know what you’re thinking, “Oh no, not a cheesy made for TV movie full of product placement.” Well, let me tell you, there is product placement; a little heavy towards the beginning, but this movie nonetheless is very well done.

It tells of a single mother and her family dealing with issues brought on by divorce. The mom is a public defender who copes with the divorce by keeping busy at work. Her busy schedule puts a strain on the family’s relationship, but things change as the family goes on a trip to visit the mountain they inherited from their uncle. The trip turns into a quest of teachable moments. It shows the importance of sticking together as a family through life’s trials and triumphs.

With this movie, Walmart and P&G hope to take back primetime family TV by delivering good quality entertainment for families. Remember TGIF? Remember tuning in to ABC every Friday night to watch your favorite family programs? Walmart and P&G are very passionate about this project and they are already working on the next movie. This project will continue if you tune in to the premiere of Secrets of the Mountain April 16, 2010 at 8/7c on NBC. If you have a blog, Twitter, or Facebook account, feel free to post your thoughts. Your feedback (positive or negative) will help Walmart and P&G with future productions.

Take a peek at the trailer. What do you think?

Family entertainment is important to our family because it is a way
for us to share special things together and have a discussion on
morals and values

Family entertainment is important because time spent together without outside distractions brings a family closer together. A good movie often gives us the opportunity to talk about good and bad decisions and has occasionally given my children the impetus to talk about their own problems.
