Our Toy Haul for Charity

Charity Toy Haul

One of the reasons I love being a Walmart Mom, is the opportunity to give back. This Holiday season Walmart offered me a chance to buy and donate toys to needy children in my community. Because I once knew how it felt to have less, I definitely had to take this opportunity to pay it forward. I was fortunate enough to receive toys that had been donated for Christmas a time or two, so I realize how important it is to donate to keep programs like these running.

Walmart provided me with a $100 gift card to rack up on as many toys that I could then donate to my local Toys For Tots organization. My goal was to get as many toys as possible because kids don’t really see the monetary value in a gift, but the quantity of gifts instead. It’s so much more exciting opening up lots of presents instead of just one. Since a lot of toys were going on sale on Black Friday, Greg and I decided to do our charity shop then at midnight. We were able to get Zhu Zhu Pets (from Walmart’s Top Toys list) for $4, Plush Little Einsteins rockets for $3.50, mini puzzle games for $2, and Barbies for $5.44! Our total was $113.72 and we were able to get so much -23 toys!

The video below chronicles our shopping trip and donation. The carts were all taken in Walmart which is why you’ll see Greg hauling toys in a Rubbermaid bin, lol!

There’s still time to donate to children in need. Consider donating a toy or two to a local charity of your choice. Every little bit helps put a smile on a child’s face!

I am a part of the Walmart Moms program. Walmart has compensated me for the time dedicated to participating in and sharing this great giving experience with you. Participation is voluntary. As always, all opinions (if shared) are my own.

Loved the video, especially the end when you add them to the Toys for Tots box. That must have felt so good!

Wow you got a lot for $100! I am sure all the kids will be thankful for your generosity.

What an awesome haul! I always try to donate to Toys for Tots. This year I began Christmas shopping last March, and I made sure to pick up some extras along the way. I donated five brand new toys last week, and I have 3-4 more I've uncovered that will be going tomorrow.

I encourage everyone to donate at least one new toy to Toys for Tots. My mom was in a position where she needed the assistance Toys for Tots has to offer, so I saw firsthand how much good the organization does and do my best to give back to it.
