Basic Black Friday Shopping Tips

blackfriday2006

Black Friday 2006 Greg and I are no Black Friday experts, but from the two times we’ve shopped during that busy time of the year, we’ve learned a few things. I picked Greg’s brain a bit because I was all, “OMG we’ve only done Black Friday twice, what do I know??” He helped me brainstorm. He had me cracking up at The “BF Travel Pack”. Seriously? Yes. The Planning Stage Check out the holiday ads and make sure the deals advertised are truly deals before adding them to you shopping list. Collect any coupons available for your items. If you’re ... Walmart’s Black Friday 2010 Deals & Specials

walmart black friday

It’s been four years since Greg and I did any Black Friday shopping. It’s loads of fun even without snagging those doorbuster deals. This year, we’re going to rekindle old times and take advantage of Walmart’s “Open House” event. During this event, they’ll be selling toys, home items, and apparel at their special prices starting at 12am instead of 5am. This will be great for those who aren’t really looking to camp out for those 5am doorbusters. I imagine things will be a liiiittle less hectic during that time. This will be great for Greg and I since we have ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

Follow Me Thomas

And the winner is… Idaho Jill! Congrats! “Wooo wooo!” is what Jayden exclaims as the train near our house passes by. Jayden loves trains, specifically Thomas and his friends. When we were offered the new Follow Me Thomas to evaluate, we were excited! Let me tell you, it exceeded our expectations! We have a few toys that are supposed to follow with the push of a button or on voice activation, but we can’t seem to take advantage of those features. The Follow Me Thomas though, awesome. It is not your typical dummied down remote controlled toy for toddlers. It ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

This post should have been published on November 1st. But because I wanted to include a video I planned to edit, I postponed publishing. I never got around to editing the video. I’ll slip it in here some day. #timewaitsfornoone Halloween has come and gone. I’m a little whiplashed from the process. We prepared for Halloween with some simple decorations and treats. We scored Jayden’s Vampire costume on post-Halloween clearance and my Crayon costume was a sent courtesy of Star Costumes. I would like to keep up with our frugal routine by buying Jayden’s costume for next year now, but ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

Let’s Talk About Organic & Local Produce

November 11, 2010 · Brand Promos · 2 comments

jamaica produce

Taken Summer 2006 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Because I am becoming more conscious about the foods we consume, I’ve been doing research (as I can) and making plans to consistently buy produce of better quality. I used to think that the best produce came in organic form; produce grown without use of artificial chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, etc. In this post I complained a little about my local Walmart’s lack of organic apples and other produce. After attending an online meeting and a follow-up call regarding Walmart’s sustainability commitments, I found out why. The issue is scale. If every Walmart or ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

Thanksgiving Dinner Well Under $50

November 11, 2010 · Brand Promos · 6 comments

Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away and I am super excited. Two weeks ago, I was in a panic, but lets not talk about that. Although we’re spending this Thanksgiving with our parents, I’m cooking turkey, dressing, smothered cabbage, homemade crescent rolls, sweet potato pie, pumpkin pie, and caramel cake to have at home. Walmart challenged me to get all of my Thanksgiving fixins for under $50. Since I’m only cooking for the three of us, it wasn’t that hard. It also helps that quite a few of the ingredients that I’ll need this Thanksgiving are already in our ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

Walmart Pick Up Today Experience

pickup today

The holiday shopping season has arrived, which means crowded stores and longer shopping trips! And, I recently had an opportunity to try a new service at Walmart that will help customers avoid the crowds and long lines during the holidays. The service is called Pick Up Today. Pick Up Today allows customers to order small appliances, electronics, and video games online and pick them up the same day at their local Walmart stores. Products such as video games and electronics are in high demand and certainly leave the shelves faster during the holidays. With Pick Up Today, you are able ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

And the winner is Angela Winesburg & Lisa G.! Congrats! I am still recovering from the Halloween come and go. I am freaking out because before I know it, Christmas will be here! I think I accomplished everything that I wanted this Halloween. I did want to take Jayden to a pumpkin patch, but we didn’t get around to it. He did get a pumpkin, though! I still need to take a few more pictures. I don’t care how late it is, we will get these pictures taken. I need better shots of us together in our costumes, so that ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →
