My Fresh Start For A Healthier, Fit, Beautiful Me

It’s a new year and we all are making goals; realistic and unrealistic. I have certainly been guilty of making goals that have gone forgotten. But this year, my goals are pretty attainable and I’m starting with myself, my inner and outer me. For too long, I have put myself on hold for my beautiful boy, but it’s time for me to bring sexy back while it’s not too late.

In 2011, I will achieve a healthier, fit, beautiful me by working on the following goals:

Eat Healthier

Eating healthier to me is avoiding processed foods (which we do), eating more nutrient rich foods (opting for organics when needed), and not opting for low-fat alternatives. It is preparing wholesome meals from scratch, not out of the box or can. I can’t remember the last time I cooked something out of a can besides pumpkin pie. I will continue on this path, weeding out the bad. Yes, you may have seen me talking about frying a baked potato in bacon grease on Facebook. I indulged, lol! Greasy foods are not a regular part of my diet. I would also like to eat more fruits and vegetables, as well as protein to help with my next goal. Oh and how could I forget? Drink more water!

Get Fit / Bulk Up

Because I am thin, I have refused to exercise because I was scared of losing weight. I realize that I need to not only appear to be fit, but I need to be fit inside too. I don’t want to start slowing down as I age because I didn’t take the necessary steps now. Because I plan on having more children, I’m not going for washboard abs (that would be a waste of time!), but I would more than anything love to tone and bulk up my arms and maybe lift and firm my booty (giggle). And because I will be exercising, I don’t want to burn off any of my hard earned pounds. I actually plan on gaining 10 more pounds which would put me at the ideal weight for my height.

Better Grooming Habits

Becoming a mom has caused me to drop the ball in the grooming department. I was never prissy and in to makeup, but I’ve always enjoyed a great lipgloss and doing my nails. I can be such a girlie and tomboy at the same time. This year, I pledge to beautify myself more whether it’s maintaining my untouched eyebrows, painting my nails, or wearing a hat, new necklace, or makeup. I will do something to make myself look prettier even if I know I’ll be home all day in my yoga pants and hoodie.

me in a hoodie.
I’m wearing makeup. Just a little makes a HUGE difference!

My son and husband rely on my well-being. If mama ain’t happy, who really is? This month, I will be updating with the steps I’ve taken to accomplish the three mentioned goals. In the later months, I’ll try to consistently touch on these goals which will make for good content since I haven’t been blogging much about myself lately. I gotta get better!

What goals are you making for yourself this year? I’d love to hear!

So glad to see that you are deciding to make you a priority. I think I am experiencing the same thing. I am getting so tired of only writing about the kids when I have so many other things to say…oh yeah, its never to late to bring sexy back. Good luck on achieving your goals this year.

These all sound like great goals! I am thin too so I can relate to your fitness goals. My booty went south years ago and I hope to lift mine too! Hope you do everything you wanna do!

Way to go! I’m really trying to eat more fruits and veggies, but also to drink more water. I tend to only drink water, but only when I’m thirsty. Trying to just keep it with me all the time, to stay hydrated.

PS You look fabulous in that photo, and it’s not just the makeup!

I want to get back into shape also. At work I sit all dern day at the desk and the pounds have been sweeping in. That needs to change sine I’m getting older and need to keep up on my health.

This sounds like a great way to start the New Year Sheena. (sorry about the whole bacon convo, lol) I have to admit that the hardest thing for me is looking nice when I know I am not “going” anywhere. It is something that started a few years ago that I never stopped doing. I love the idea of you wanting to beautify yourself. I can’t wait to follow you on your journey.

I decided I want to “sex it up” this year. I will be celebrating 17 years of marriage this month and I want to make my husband say “dayum”. I have the whole mom and organization part under control. I just want to be an ever better wife, a sexier wife.

Yessss!!! Kudos to you for making time to sit with Self and define what YOU need to feel/look/be your best. I love that you said:I need to not only appear to be fit, but I need to be fit inside too. Yep, that’s the truth, and I look forward to cheering you on as you achieve your healthiest, fittest, most beautiful self!

This is the first blog post I read this morning…and such a wonderful one! For so long, many of us focus so hard on our children, that we forget about ourselves…and then the years tick by. I’ve decided to do many of the same things…unsure about the booty lifting (but one can dream!) LOL Catching up on physicals, dental care, eating habits, etc. – it’s expensive..but dammit, I’m worth it! Great thinking, girl! :)
