Dine Memories

Dining out is something we do maybe two times a year; more if we have a gift card. It’s so much easier and obviously more affordable to dine at home, but when we have the opportunity to go out, it’s always a treat. It’s a great feeling enjoying a delicious meal that you didn’t have to prepare or serve yourself. When we dine out, it’s usually with family. It gives us a chance to connect away from word of mouth or social media, lol. And usually there is always a funny take away at the end of our time together.

I remember Greg’s 20th birthday dinner with the in-laws. Someone told the waitress that it was his birthday. We’re all talking and all of a sudden we hear, “We have a birthday todaaaaaaaaaay!” in the loudest, most flamboyant* voice ever. In comes a waiter and waitresses to sing the birthday song. We are all deer caught in the headlights and I’m trying to swallow the loudest.laugh.evar. The scene was nothing short of hilarious! Restaurant staff really know how to make birthdays fun!

And then there was the time my family took my grandmother to dinner at Red Lobster. It was Mother’s Day, I believe. I was about 5 years old. Granny was so happy on that day that she cried from the love and appreciation of her children.

It’s moments like those we look forward to when going out to eat, which is why restaurant gift cards in my opinion make special gifts. For a limited time, Darden gift card marketplace is offering a $5 bonus coupon for every $25 gift card purchased at Olive Garden, Red Lobster or LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants which make them a perfect post-holiday gift for the family member or friend who surprised you with a gift this year.

How often do you dine out? Do you have a favorite memory of the last time you dined out?

* I mean this in the nicest way possible as I cannot describe it any other way :-).

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Darden. I received a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.

Unfortunately, my family and I dine out entirely too much. Towards the end of the year after my lay-off, I had a lot of time (of course) and I rediscovered my love for preparing meals for my family. This year, I’m going to try to limit the amount of times we eat out, although I can hardly resist the urge to eat ribs from Applebees, cornish hen from Parrain’s, and wings from BWW. LOL!

    Happy New Year to you!
