I have a few projects in the works specifically for Jayden to keep him feeling special during his newfound big brotherhood. To celebrate his and Jaxon’s brotherly relationship, I wanted to make him something that he can be excited and proud of. Since it is Winter, I thought it’d be nice to make a snowglobe. I’ve seen so many creative ides on Pinterest, so I was itching to make one.
Now this project should have been pretty easy, but I ran into some issues. Just keeping it real. This isn’t a Marthafied tutorial, so bear with me as I am missing a few step by step photos since I had to switch things up a bit. Just a little insight… I had originally chosen to use an Emma jar, but it leaked. I hot glued a black Duplo brick to the bottom of the jar and when I added the water… it came up for air. The first set of laminated photos and names started to absorb water and I’m sure there was something else, but my brain is fried from trying to complete this craft before Jaxon woke up and unfortunately that didn’t happen, lol. It’s all good, though.
Lamination + Tape Fail / I worked SO hard on these! DOH!
Print out photos and names. Laminate, cut out, and seal with packing tape (cover front and back completely) to make sure water doesn’t seep through. Try to keep tape from bubbling and folding. Cut off any excess tape, but don’t cut too close to the paper or water will get in.
Paint jar lid with chalkboard paint. Use a blow dryer on low to speed up the drying process. Brush glitter glue around the side of the lid.
Arrange photos in jar. Drop in names, confetti, and snow scatterables. Fill with water and glycerin. Eyeball the glycerin until confetti floats slow enough when snowglobe is shaken. A teaspoon may be a good starting point.
Now that I’ve gone through trial and error I’m ready to make some more. Not bad for my first try considering the outtakes, huh?
Are you doing any winter crafts? I’d love to know what you’re working on!
