I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for Collective Bias and its advertiser. Walmart offers the Lowest Priced Unlimited Plans. So for Mother’s Day, I’m upgrading my mom’s flip phone to a smartphone with a cheaper bill.
Last month, I received a text from my mom. Surely I was dreaming because my mom does not text nor do the computer. I was certain that her neighbor must have authored this message, but the message contained no spaces. The spaceless message of “sheenacallmom” was in fact my mom’s effort. And now she is convinced she’s part of the cool girls club. She’s been wanting to get one of those smartphones, so with Mother’s Day right around the corner, I thought a smartphone would make the perfect gift for her.
I was able to set her up with a no-contract plan from Walmart FamilyMobile. I paired it with the Alcatel One Touch Evolve smartphone. It’s a pretty decent phone at the price point of $79.88. Right now, my mom has a flip phone that she buys $50 refill cards for. She’ll now pay $39.88/month for Unlimited Talk Text and Data/Web, $29.88 if she qualifies for the $10/month Lifeline Discount.
This new smartphone and plan is perfect for her since she doesn’t subscribe to an internet service and relies on me for her online matters. She will now be able to keep up with photos of her grand babies, receive recipes from friends, and do the email with little assistance from me. And if she wishes to downgrade to Unlimited Talk and Text, she can at any time. Ah, sweet freedom.
If you have an older parent in need of an affordable phone upgrade and phone plan, I highly suggest Walmart FamilyMobile. You can’t beat their great no-contract plan options and modest, functional phones.
