Back to School Fashion at Cookie’s Kids

When shopping for Jayden, I tend to run with the money and rack up on the cheapest items first, which are often random. If a certain item is on sale, I may grab two of the same or in different colors. I do this mostly with jeans and shoes. I do want to get better about putting outfits together, so on my latest shopping mission at Cookie’s Kids, that was my focus. Jayden is really into Angry Birds…

I was tempted to grab every Angry Birds tee in sight… they were only $7 a piece! I behaved though and focused on COMPLETE outfits. I increased my budget for a few things, for instance, I purchased a polo for $15… that is SO unlike me, but it’s very stylish, designed by a name brand that I love. My objective was to put together mature outfits since he’s growing into quite the lil’ dude.

I always love shopping at Cookie’s Kids because they carry some of the same brands that I score at Marshall’s and TJ Maxx… only I don’t have to leave the house, can use coupon codes, and receive cash back on my purchases! Every time I shop Cookie’s, I receive items that are affordable, stylish, and of great quality. I especially love their selection of jeans. There are so many fashionable styles to choose from, making it easy for the littles to keep up with grownup fashion trends.

So, let me show you all what I purchased under $60! I also put together some looks inspired by some of the items that I purchased and spotted while shopping. Check those out below as well!

Note: The CASTLEBECK jeans were out of stock so Cookie’s let me choose a replacement pair (enroute). Pictured are another pair I had on hand. Remember those studded jeans? They fit now :-). I’ve noticed that most of the jeans and shoes run large. All skinny jeans I’ve ordered fit relaxed. Last year, I ordered a pair of sandals and had to save them for this year. The loafers that I ordered during this shop are significantly larger; a whole size or more. But other than that, I love their clothing. I just have to keep that in mind when ordering.

Cookie’s is celebrating their 40th year of business! In 1972, a young man named Cookie and his brother Marvin went into business together. They rented a 1600 square foot store in Jamaica, Queens, fixed it up, bought inventory and Summer and Fall, and opened a day after Thanksgiving with a full stock of holiday toys. The toys were a success and they put the extra money toward buying children’s clothing for the next season. When that did well, they bought more clothing. The business was on it’s way.

As the brothers Cookie, Marvin and Sonny, who had come in as a third partner in the business, began to open new stores in new locations, inventory expanded. Besides the latest fashions, our customers wanted shoes, toys, backpacks and accessories and we were prepared to deliver.

By the late 1990’s there were six superstores throughout the NYC area, and though they previously had different names, by that time they were all named Cookie’s Kids. Also in the late ’90s came an important addition to Cookie’s Kids’ inventory: school uniforms. It was the steady success in uniform sales that paved the way for founding CookiesKids.com in 2007, which originally sold uniforms and soon after the entire Cookie’s Kids Inventory.

Thanks! I couldn't believe how grown up he looked. Yep, the rest of him can't keep up with his legs!
