10 Aug

August 10, 2011 · 8 comments

I intended to post this last Saturday, but because I cannot seem to get ANYTHING done on time, Wednesday’ll have to do.

Saturday went a little something like this…

Splishin’ and splashin’ in the pool. His blue flame SPF suit is up for grabs at She {hearts} It =).

For old times’ sake, Greg put a onesie on Jayden and he didn’t want to take it off.

He kept saying that he wanted to be a silly boy.

Um yes, that is my child eating a treat with dairy in it although he’s not supposed to have it. UGH. We forgot.

I obviously didn’t have my Martha hat on, but the outcome was a delicious mess! Here are a few links of S’mores more pleasing to the eye:

- Caramel Apple S’Mores

If only, I had S’more Saturdays that I could cash in any other day of the week.

Commenters will be entered to win a S’mores kit like the one above (courtesy of Hershey’s), just unopened. A winner will be chosen August 15th, 2011 7PM CST. Want S’mores on a budget? Hello August (In Bullets)

019-2

As I sit and write this, I am fatigued, only capable of speaking in incomplete sentences. Left. Widget. Up. There. Chips. Okay. Sit. Hush. I am burnt out, but hanging in there. There’s so much more that I crave in life and for this blog of mine, and I’m working behind the scenes to be a better mother, wife, sister (trying to figure that out), friend, and blogger. One minute, I’m one big ball of happy and the next, I feel like a loser. And it’s ongoing. So much good happening, but very little time to manage it all. I’m ...

Rude Cabbage Worms and Remedies

July 17, 2011 · Gardening · 89 comments

sadcabbage

Last month, I noticed a white butterfly fluttering around our garden. I immediately found it’s activity to be quite suspicious. It would not go away. There was something in our garden that tickled it’s fancy. I, however, didn’t know it was about our beloved cabbage. Two weeks later, I suppose, I started to notice teeny little holes in the cabbage plants that I was ever so proud of. So after noticing the holes in the our cabbage, I knew they had been attacked by cabbage worms. And I had discovered that the white butterfly that I had seen weeks prior, ...

New Additions to Our Backyard!

Since giving our outdoor living space a makeover, I have been on an outdoor high! Since my last update, the blueberry and hazelnut trees have been planted in large pots and I’m considering planting peach and apple trees since Jayden keeps asking for both of those fruits. Where am I gonna put them? I dunno, we’re running out of space! But mama will find a way for her baby to have his apple and peach trees. Oh, and the garden is thriving, too. I’ll give a more in depth update with a complete list of what we’re growing soon! So, ...

Part 3: How Our Kmart Outdoor Living Space Makeover Came Together

May 6, 2011 · Brand Promos · 30 comments

So now that I have revealed our outdoor living space, it’s time I tell you how it all came together. It’s quite simple, if I spare the tantrums thrown in stores and my fear of not being able to complete the project in time, and worrying Greg about it all. So. I started by going to kmart.com for inspiration. I browsed their Outdoor Living section, Outdoor Living catalog, and Patio Finder. The Patio Finder was pretty neat, but I had my heart set on a swing and no additional patio furniture since our patio is of the smaller variety. Using ...

Part 2: Sprucing Up Our Outdoor Living Space With Kmart

May 5, 2011 · Brand Promos · 10 comments

029 - Before

So today is the day that I reveal our outdoor living space. Honestly, I’ve been stressing out about the garden because I keep hitting some road blocks (like buying 600lbs of not-so-great soil, a fence #fail, and rain barrel back-and-forthness) and the appearance of the patio because I feel like something is missing, like it isn’t lavish enough. The patio concrete is such an eyesore, so I’m going to add some color by making a patio rug myself. My herbs are not ready to be planted in the hanging coco planters, and the blueberry and hazelnut trees still need to ...

Part 1: Sprucing Up Our Outdoor Living Space With “Guess Who”?

May 2, 2011 · Brand Promos · 29 comments

spring outdoors

Earlier in April, we committed to starting a garden. As overwhelming as researching and preparing for a few DIY gardening projects has been, I’m so excited to get my hands dirty! In addition to starting a garden, we have decided to spruce up our backyard as well, because, well, it needs it… As you can see, we’re working with limited space. We can’t have anything out in the grass or else it becomes a problem for the mowing service (they use ride on mowers). But, we can make it work. I’ve built three wishlists based on a budget with 5 ...
