I Dream of Jayden

This post was written by Greg. There he was, all snug in his blankets, with a face so precious, it made my heart smile. There he was, lighting up the whole room with his glistening eyes. There he was, murmuring his very first sounds of life. There he was, my son! My very first child! I could not describe the feeling I felt. The moment was so beautiful! I was so happy! My eyes were tearfully gleaming with joy! He was my son, Jayden! Immediately I wanted to share my son with the world! I wanted everyone to experience what ...

Parenting Made Easier: Swaddling

Swaddle Baby

This post was written by Greg. Question: What has made parenting easier for you? SuburbanDaddy says “Learn how to swaddle! It’s a real art form. The nurses at the hospital are experts, and babies calm down as soon as they are snug. I could never get the swaddle to hold for more than 5 minutes, so we used the ones at babies r us that wrap around with velcro.” To be honest, I did not know what the heck swaddling was up until a couple of weeks ago. After I read SuburbanDaddy’s comment, I thought to myself, “What in the ...

No Unsolicited Baby Advice

I try to carry myself as a cheery person. I am polite, I smile, I nod, BUT it peeves me to the point of no return when people talk to me like I don’t know any better and when I am ticked off, I will speak my mind or at least let it be known that I didn’t appreciate what was said. I haven’t gotten any crazy advice from people, but nurses keep asking me if this is my first baby. I smile and reply with “yes”. I don’t know if they are just curious or asking in hopes that ...

26 Weeks

January 31, 2008 · Parenting · leave a comment

Today marks 26 weeks! Physically I feel great and the dreaded constipation hasn’t hit yet. Oh it’s about time I update my weight. I’m at 117lbs with a total of 12lbs gained. Today at the doctor, I partook in the glucose test. It wasn’t as bad as I expected. The cup of liquid tasted like a watered down soda. Thank goodness it wasn’t a syrupy concoction, as I envisioned. Had I not been hungry, experiencing heart burn and JT kicking, things would have been perfect. I seem to get heartburn when I start getting hungry. When I start getting hungry, ...

25 Weeks

January 24, 2008 · Parenting · leave a comment

Today I’m 25 weeks pregnant! Ever had muscles in your cheeks or thighs jump or jiggle? That’s currently what the kicks are feeling like. We’re going to have to pick up some more pillows because my hips are starting to get sore when I sleep on my sides. I have to keep a rotation going throughout the night. I started using my BabyPlus on January 21st. I’m not sure if I can keep up with using it two times a day, but I’ll try. I will be following up with a review. According to Baby Center, at 25 weeks I ...

Cosleeping Mom And Baby

This post was written by Greg. Question: What has made parenting easier for you? Summer says “Physical items that helped: A sling! Oh, hands free baby care rocks and they are so much happier and peaceful. Cosleeping. No getting up for late night feedings, just roll over lift shirt fall back asleep. The biggest help was learning to trust my gut instead of what the “experts” say or what society thinks I’m supposed to do.” Mommy – Two summers ago, I purchased a Peekaboo pouch on sale to add to our “baby stash” and I’m eying a few other slings. ...

Parenting Made Easier: Independency & Going With The Flow

January 20, 2008 · Parenting · leave a comment

This post was written by Greg. Question: What has made parenting easier for you? Raquita says “What has helped the most for me (I just had kid #2) is backing off the idea that I had in my mind about what parenting was going to be for me, and learning to go with the flow. I’m still figuring out what works best for my family and my kids, but we are getting there and it seems better every day. As far as material items, I couldn’t live with out my stroller, its the one that accepts this one. My travel ...

Parenting Made Easier By Helpful Moms & Dads

Mother Father Child

This post was written by Greg. A few days ago, I asked a question: What has made parenting easier for you? My intentions in asking that question were to help new and expecting parents by allowing “veteran” moms and dads to give tips and advice on what has made parenting easier for them. I’d say that my intentions were definitely met as I received numerous informative, helpful responses. I honestly have to say that, speaking as an expecting parent, the responses I received helped me a lot in learning ways that parenting can be made easier. So, I’d like to ...
