Handwriting Meme

I’m missing the good ol’ days when blogging was about having fun and not all about crafting the perfect post. Or editorial calendars. So I’m doing a spur of the moment handwriting meme, lifted from Jenn. I’m also embarrassing myself by showing my terrible handwriting. If you’ve ever received a typed personal letter from me, this is why… Name/Name of website. Left or right-handed? Favorite letters to write? Least favorite letters to write? Write this: The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. Write these in all capitals: CRAB, HUMOR, KALEIDOSCOPE, PAJAMAS, GAZILLION. Write your favorite lyrics to a ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

Want the inside scoop on Walmart’s 2011 Black Friday ad?

November 2, 2011 · Life & Quirks · 2 comments

Just yesterday, we put a few things on Layaway at our local Walmart. We did, however, avoid items that may potentially go on sale on Black Friday. To stay in the loop, I’ve subscribed us to Walmart’s mailing list. Walmart will actually be releasing their 2011 Black Friday ad a little early this year to everyone who subscribes! Sign up at walmart.com/email by Nov 7 or “Like” Walmart on Facebook at facebook.com/Walmart and you will be among the first to preview their Black Friday ad! Edited to add: Walmart’s 2011 Black Friday Ad is here! Click the image above to be taken directly to ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

His Gratitude

As we pack Halloween away, and transition to Thanksgiving and Christmas, it’s time to welcome a season of giving and gratitude. We have so much in our home that we are packing up to give away to people who need those things more than we do. And we plan on purchasing items to donate locally. Although Jayden isn’t aware of how good he actually has it, were are trying to gradually introduce him to helping others. Last year, when we donated to Toys for Tots, he didn’t quite get that but this year, he will be able to understand a ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

So Greg and I picked out Halloween costumes for Jayden in September; a Chicago Bears football costume, and a pirate costume. Since I’m usually in charge of his costumes, I let Greg take over. He ordered the Chicago Bears costume from an online retailer that shall remain nameless. Days and days would go by with no shipping notification or worse… that the costume was out of stock. It took him logging in and checking his order to find that the costume was out of stock. So. I go over to another online retailer that shall remain nameless and order the ... Walmart Christmas Price Match Guarantee (Nov 1st – Dec 25th)

October 26, 2011 · Life & Quirks · leave a comment

In addition to Christmas Layaway, Walmart will be offering Christmas Price Match Guarantee starting Novemeber 1st – December 25th. This offering will give me the peace of mind knowing that if I purchase gifts at Walmart whether outright or through Layaway, I can still get my items for the lowest price possible, as long as I have the competitor’s original ad and original Walmart receipt. Walmart will then issue the difference in the form of a gift card. And that works for me! How It Works All branded, general merchandise including toys, home goods, electronics, hardware, etc. are eligible for ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

Sophistishe’s gone “October”. Refresh if you don’t see the subtle changes in the header, background, and bio box in the sidebar :). I added a few details throughout for Halloween and a pink ribbon background to show my support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It feels good to have time to actually do those things. It’s been years since I’ve styled my blog according to season. It’s what makes this blog mine, so I will be doing little fun things like these more often. I’m taking control. One of my favorite things to do during Autumn is aiming my camera ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

One Love: An Interview with Cedella Marley

October 12, 2011 · Life & Quirks · 12 comments

I had the opportunity to interview Bob Marley’s Daughter, Cedella Marley, which was AWESOME by the way! The interview was in conjunction with helping her promote her new children’s book, One Love. The heartwarming and beautifully illustrated picture book tells of a young girl and her parents inspiring neighbors to restore a park in their multi-cultural neighborhood. Based on one of Bob Marley’s most beloved songs, it celebrates his joyful spirit and unforgettable lyrics, bringing them to life for the new generation. I am super excited and grateful to have One Love in our book collection! So. Check out the ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →
