Cue the rambling.

Just as this post suggests, it’s full of rambles. I rarely talk about myself, so it’s time that I do. I think what has kind of kept me from blogging about myself more is this one thing that I have been needing to finish for months. If I have time to blog about what I’m doing, I guess I can squeeze in some time to finish what I’ve started. I wanted to have it done by BlogHer because I don’t know how things will be looking afterwards. I may need some down time. I want to redesign my blog, but again, I’ll feel guilty knowing I need to finish that one thing. I’m trying to get better at managing my time. I’ve been obsessed lately because I feel much better when I’m not ridiculously behind. Things are easier on days that Jayden is visiting with his grandparents; like now.

I added a link to my disclosure policy in my post template just so any newcomers are aware of how I do things around here. Disclaimers at the end of posts are icky little things. I can’t stand them. In my case, if I’ve receive a product in exchange for my services, I state that in the body of the post. I feel a disclaimer at the end of the post after I’ve already stated my relationship with the company would belittle my readers. If I’m working on a specific campaign that requires a disclaimer; fine. I may, however, roll my eyes before inserting it into that post. But for reviews, I’ll continue to state who sent me what without the redundant disclaimer at the end. I just want to be honest without turning off my readers.

I’m preparing for BlogHer. I need a few tops, leggings, maybe a dress, and a cute bag that will fit my laptop and camera. I’m also trying to figure out how I’m going to pack 5 days worth of clothes in my carry-on. When flying, I hate lugging around too much and I love the comfort of knowing my bag will land where I land. Maybe if I roll everything up and only pack two pairs of shoes, I’ll be able to. *shrug*

I need to get an eye exam so that I can order some new glasses. My current glasses keep sliding down my face even after adjustments and it’s getting really annoying. I miss my black frames, so black will probably be my choice for the next pair. I’m dealing with eczema flare ups on my cheeks and neck. It ain’t fun and I’m hoping my skin will play nice during BlogHer. We need to get Jayden over to a new pediatrician, someone worth giving our money to. I’ll give them a call Monday.

That’s all for now. We’re having Chinese for dinner. We’ll probably watch a movie or two and play some Wii. Massages are also in order.

If you’re stopping by from the Social Parade, hey there! Leave a comment so that I can visit you!

A Gift To Him & Us

060We’re still cosleeping and it’s great when we aren’t trampled in the process. We have the toddler bed right next to ours. They are both now about the same height which makes it easy for Jayden to make his way into our bed. We did this for convenience, but our plans for good have started to foil.

The boy tears through both beds. Maybe using the word trampled was a bit of an exaggeration, but I don’t understand how someone so little could do so much damage while sleeping. One night, he literally just threw his body right on over me and landed in between Greg and I banging us both up in the process. Offended and out of sorts, we just adjusted and went back to sleep.

So while we’re realizing we have to get him sleeping in his room (for real this time), we wonder about keeping him in his toddler bed when it seems he needs a little more space to sleep. We’re looking at a few twin beds with rails for him. I found some really cute low lofts with storage that I know he’d love. We plan on having a few more kiddos, so saving space is really important. One bed has built-in storage, and the other has a slide with open space at the bottom for storage and an additional bed if we need to add one. I think I’m leaning towards bed numero dos.

I’m hoping to have him in his room, in his new bed by the new year. I think decorating his room will encourage him. It would also be a great Christmas gift to him and us. I think we’ve got ourselves a plan…

Wild Creations Classic EcoAquarium Starter Kit

And the winner is…Tanyetta! Congrats!

For Jayden’s 2nd birthday, we were sent some friends; not quite doggies, but African Dwarf Frogs. Unlike fish, there are fewer variables to maintain when caring for African Dwarf Frogs. They are extremely easy to care for and almost impossible to croak. The live gravel and bamboo plant included in the Classic EcoAquarium provides a natural environment for the frogs. They only have to be fed four pellets twice a week and the springwater has to be changed every three months. I actually changed the water this morning and the little guys are still chillin’.

We’ve kept them up on our kitchen counter and yesterday, we moved them to a shelf we put up in the kitchen. I’m hoping having them teaches Jayden a little responsibility and a science lesson or two. He sure does love his fwoggies and asks to see them every day.

Fourth of July

127

This Fourth of July was relaxing. It wasn’t overly thought out, just a day of grilling, play, and wows (what Jayden calls fireworks). Jayden and the neighbor’s kids played outside and shared toys. We were able to enjoy the fireworks from home. It was so convenient since we didn’t have to lug cameras, snacks, and chairs to the show.

I think next year, we’ll add parading to our holiday celebration; maybe some sparklers and pop rocks. And I’ll continue baking sweets; for every occasion since celebrations are THAT much better when there’s a festive delight on the table. I’m gradually working on these things called traditions…

So how was your Fourth of July?
