This afternoon I decided to pop in a DVD in hopes of entertaining Jayden while I attempted to get some work done on my laptop. We had received The Princess and the Frog Blu-ray Combo Pack last week, so I thought that would be a good choice. I loaded up the Blu-ray Disc Player and toggled with the surround sound.

As soon as the movie began, his eyes instantly became glued to the big screen. I thought, “Ok maybe this could work. For real this time.” He danced to the tunes, he sat on the coffee table, he ran off and played with toys, and lounged in his chair. He laughed. He pointed. He whined for cookties, wawa, and paci. Then he started to itch. And I got my hands all greasy slathering him in ointment. He wanted to snuggle. He tossed and turned. He held on to my fingers for security. He got up and played with his toys and came back for more snuggles. I started to feel as though my mission had failed and this movie was only playing for my pleasure.

When the movie ended, he fell asleep and I snuck off into the office. It was my wish that I’d get some work done this afternoon, only that didn’t happen. So I will be staying up a little late tonight until that wish does come true.

The pipes underneath our kitchen sink have cracked and come apart. They are plastic. Genius. Rather than let this disaster come in between our daily tasks. We made lemons out of lemonade.

Last night we washed dishes…in the tub.

We transported the dirty dishes upstairs in a laundry hamper. Excuse the nasties. It’s flour from cookie dough.

I sang random lines from Outkast songs and blurted pieces from stand up comedy shows to stay entertained while washing.

Each cleaned dish went into a laundry basket until it was time for Greg to rinse.

Someone is coming over tomorrow to repair the pipes in the kitchen and this will be nothing more than a memory.

On a side note, a family of ants congregated around our front door. We figured Jayden had dropped something around the scene, but there was nothing to be found. Greg decides to check his shoes for any surprises. He turned one shoe upside down and out pours two chicken nuggets and a pile of ants.

It’s definitely time to enforce the no food outside of the kitchen rule…

It’s been ages since we bought new sippy cups. We’ve just dealt with the ones we have. Some would leak if we didn’t screw the lids on properly and some were such a chore to clean. Jayden is almost two and it’s time his sippy cups reflect that. And I wouldn’t complain if they were a little easier for us parents to maintain.

My friend Jen, introduced me to Tommee Tippee Explora Sippy Cups. She’s a sippy cup snob, so if she raves about them, then they must be pretty darn good.

Tommee Tippee shared the wealth with me when they agreed to send me a pack of Explora Sippys (not to be confused with the sippys with straws). They are simple, yet genius. The base of each cup is insulated, so drinks stay cooler longer. The graphics on the cups are mature enough for a growing toddler. Inside of the cup’s lid, there’s a valve that uses what’s called Advance-flo technology. The valve allows for liquid to flow out only on demand, making the cup easy to drink from and leak proof! We can now relax when giving him drinks because we don’t have to worry about him dumping water and juice onto our furniture or his toys! Oh yea, we’ve had plenty of those incidents.

The use of the special valve makes the lid easy to clean. You just pop off the white piece under the lid, then the silicone, and clean!

Remember the Boogology Jaydenisms?

I’ll wait.

One of the words on that list was “Wahmart” and it has turned into the next best thing that has graced little man’s mouth since “Dat Natny.” It all started on a random day. A Walmart commercial had come on. You know how all of the Walmart commercials end with “Save money. Live better. Walmart.” and then the logo flashes across the screen? Well, Jayden picked that up and repeated “Wahmart”. Of course we thought that was all sorts of mushy gushy cute.

Fast forward to a few days later. We had muted the TV for a commercial break during American Idol. A Walmart commercial had come on and when the logo flashed, he screamed “Wahmart!” or maybe it was “Momart.” Sometimes he says either or. Fast forward even further to last Sunday. My mother and aunt came over. My aunt was carrying a reusauble Walmart shopping bag. He runs over to her, points to the bag, and exclaims “Wahmart!”

I spent last Monday through Wednesday in NYC with fellow Walmart Moms and company. While there, I was given a reusable Walmart shopping bag which was kind of a big deal since Jayden has this new Walmart obsession. I couldn’t wait to give it to him.
