Parenting Made Easier: Independency & Going With The Flow

January 20, 2008 · Parenting · leave a comment

This post was written by Greg. Question: What has made parenting easier for you? Raquita says “What has helped the most for me (I just had kid #2) is backing off the idea that I had in my mind about what parenting was going to be for me, and learning to go with the flow. I’m still figuring out what works best for my family and my kids, but we are getting there and it seems better every day. As far as material items, I couldn’t live with out my stroller, its the one that accepts this one. My travel ...

Parenting Made Easier By Helpful Moms & Dads

Mother Father Child

This post was written by Greg. A few days ago, I asked a question: What has made parenting easier for you? My intentions in asking that question were to help new and expecting parents by allowing “veteran” moms and dads to give tips and advice on what has made parenting easier for them. I’d say that my intentions were definitely met as I received numerous informative, helpful responses. I honestly have to say that, speaking as an expecting parent, the responses I received helped me a lot in learning ways that parenting can be made easier. So, I’d like to ...

24 Weeks

Well today I’m 24 weeks pregnant and it seems like these weeks are flying by. I realized that I haven’t worn shoes that require using my hands to put them on. I just stick to my handy Adidas flip flops. I know that’s a pregnancy no no seeing how you’re not supposed to let yourself go while pregnant, but I make them work, lol. When I do go somewhere cute shoe worthy, I do make the effort. Sneezing is very uncomfortable. Whenever I sneeze I always have to grab my belly, eeek. Yesterday I felt Boogie’s heart beating! While resting ...

Stressed Mom With Out Of Control Kids

This post was written by Greg. I hear it all the time: being a parent is not an easy job, especially when you’re first-time parents. There are so many things to consider, so many new responsibilities to take on. After all, you are taking care of a new, fragile human life. So many new things come into perspective. You now put this new person before yourself. So many questions arise when you’re a new parent: How do I decide what’s best for my child? Is there anything I should encourage my child to do or not do? What if I ...

23 Weeks

Today I’m 23 weeks pregnant! Boogie’s still a jitter bug. I have occasional heartburn, sometimes it can be fiery! I’m feeling a little stiff under my rib cage from the belly stretching, other than that I can’t complain! I’ve gotten used to scooting and rolling out of bed. Our scale is missing 3 of the bottom pieces used to balance it, so either I have to find them (hopefully) or buy another scale. Until then, my weight is unknown! Last week I was 114lbs, 9lbs gained. One thing that I’ve noticed is that I have to eat in portions. I ...

Pregnant African American Woman

3 weeks ago I first started noticing Boogie’s movement in my tummy. First it was like a fish being taken home in a plastic bag, subtle. Now he’s just all over the place and many times I find myself saying Ooo! What are you doing in there?. A few days ago I noticed my tummy vibrating with his movements. Pretty soon I’ll be able to see his little arms and legs poking on through. This is so exciting! The days are going by pretty fast and I feel like I have so much to do with so little time. I ...

5 Reasons Why Daddy Should Buy Baby Clothes

January 4, 2008 · Parenting · leave a comment

Daddy

The following post was written by Greg. Mommy and I constantly bump heads over the types of baby clothes we should buy for Boogie. She wants to buy him the “cutesy”-type baby clothes, while I want to buy him the “rough and rugged”-type baby clothes; you know, the type of clothes that shows that he actually has a sack. Then just the other day it hit me! I came across something that would ultimately strengthen my argument to the point that it could even kick Chuck Norris’ ass! I present to you, 5 reasons why Daddy should buy baby clothes: ...

Conceiving After Depo Provera

The Preggie Tests

Months ago I went through a panic where I wanted to detox my body. I had been on the Depo Provera shot for 16 months as of April of this year and wanted to make sure that the drug was completely out of my system. Originally I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo Pills to minimize cramping during my cycles, I had no problems with them just dizzy spells in the morning. I decided to take them later in the day and everything was fine. When I went off to college, I wasn’t able to always refill on time and ...

My Maternity Wear Choices

December 24, 2007 · Fashion · leave a comment

20 Weeks

It’s about time I start shopping for maternity wear. I’ve started to burst out of my jeans. I do have a few pairs of jeans that I purchased 2 years ago that were too big and now they mysteriously fit, lol, but for how long? Right now I count on my lounge and yoga pants since they stretch and are more comfortable than jeans. Below are some of my top maternity wear choices. Kiki’s Fashions – super cute shirts and dresses. I can’t fit any of their bottoms, they’re made for larger people and the inseams are short. Kiki’s Fashions ...
