Decking The Halls / My Fav Holiday Decorating Styles

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Oh yeah, oh yeah! One of my absolute favorite things to do is decorate for the holidays. It really gets us in the spirit! I’m not quite sure what my decorating style is. I gravitate towards rustic and vintage. I also love glitter. I try to steer clear from traditional, but I do appreciate traditional in small quantities. For instance, we always have done multicolored lights. It’s what both Greg and I grew up on, so we display them in our window and tree. Our tree is pre-lit with white lights. We turn them both on and it looks so pretty.

This photo above was taken a few years ago, but this is how our tree is decorated every year save for a few extra ornaments. I would love to switch things up a bit this year. I’ve been wanting to change the color scheme for a while, but I never have the courage to do so. Here’s my inspiration. Isn’t it fabulous? I love the turquoise and brown combination the designer used. It even looks great with multicolored lights. That tree better werk!

I love hanging ornaments from the ceiling. This year, I’ve chosen to hang snowflakes that work really well with our living room decor.

I love adding fresh elements to my holiday decor. Since a live tree is too messy, I opt for live garland. I like to decorate our staircase and credenza.

A few years ago, I strung some lights above our sink and added some ornaments to the look. I love the quirkiness of it all, which is why I never take it down. It makes my kitchen feel like a quaint cafe. This year, I added some glittered poinsettias to give it more of a distinct holiday look.

In the corner of our breakfast nook, I put up a miniature tree and nutcracker. The colors go so well with everything in my kitschy kitchen.

DIY Holiday Wreath

I love making my own wreaths. Last year, I made this beautiful wreath. I didn’t want to go with a traditional bow, so I use poinsettia flowers instead.

I’m inspired by this chalkboard drawing and music sheet garland over at Ella Claire. I am painting a wall in our living room with chalkboard paint to make seasonal decorating easier. These ideas would be lovely together.

I’m loving this burlap artwork from A Glimpse Inside. Wouldn’t it make a great pillow cover? It’d totally match this cozy Amalfi Sofa from Havertys. I love the rich chocolate color, totally kid proof.

I can’t wait to finish decorating. How do you prepare your home for the holidays?

Whether you are looking for the perfect couch or an accent piece to tie the whole room together, Havertys has everything you need to prepare your home for guests this holiday season!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Havertys. The opinions and text are all mine.

I love the lights above the kitchen sink. Your home looks so festive! I've got to remember to start earlier so that I can enjoy the season, rather than frantically tossing things up at the last minute ;)
