For Father’s Day, I decided to whip up a(n early) meal for Greg. Whenever I make a special meal for him, it always involves steak. Whenever we dine out, he’s orders a steak. Since steak is considered a treat in our household, it’s devoured with much pleasure whenever I decide to make one.
For Greg’s early Father’s Day meal, I made sirloin steak, which I marinated in white wine, grilled, then cooked in the oven for ultimate tenderness. I also made pasta carbonara with bacon instead of pancetta (it’s really tasty with broccoli btw.), and topped it with shrimp scampi. Of course the meal wouldn’t be complete without something green, so I made a simple salad with romaine lettuce. Greg doesn’t like a lot of extras in his salad, he also prefers ranch dressing, so the Italian dressing, cucumbers, and baby strawberry from the the garden are just for show.
I totally planned on making Ree’s mashed potatoes, but I spaced out between cooking and making sure Jayden didn’t get any more sand in his hair. Some chirren just can’t have nice things *rethinking the sand table*.
I bought all of the fixins for this delectable dinner at Walmart under $25 and Greg and I both have leftovers for tomorrow! $6.25 per gourmet meal is not bad at all!
