Fever Monitoring With TempTraq

It’s hard to believe that we’re amidst cold and flu season. Am I looking forward to fighting germs and nursing sick tiny humans and potentially myself? Of course not! Luckily, when the bugs hit our household, they don’t last very long. Jaxon has only been sick once, surprisingly enough, and that was when he was a wee one month old. Both he and Jayden had come down with symptoms on Christmas 2012. While Jayden showed signs of the flu, Jaxon only developed a minor cough. Having a newborn with a vulnerable immune system get sick, sounds pretty scary. He could have gotten much worse, but I believe the combination of nursing, steam showers, and saline drops kept him well and in good spirits.

With sick days on the horizon, we’ve been gathering our remedies and essentials for a smooth transition. As silly as that sounds, there’s nothing really smooth about being sick, but you can make sure that the treatment process is. With the addition of another baby, we don’t want to be caught unprepared. In fact, we’re picking up extra items to keep us all happy and healthy. Fevers which often accompany winter viruses, require constant monitoring… even at night when everyone should be resting as much as possible.

There’s nothing like spending your night poking, prodding, and waking your kiddos up in the process. It all makes for a sleepless night and a very weary mama. Enter TempTraq, a soft, wearable Bluetooth® Temperature Monitor that continuously monitors body temperature for up to 24 hours. Say what?

When asked to try TempTraq, I was all sorts of excited. I absolutely loved the idea of being able to monitor the kids’ temps from my phone all day long. It’s as simple as applying the adhesive patch in each kid’s underarm, downloading the TempTraq app and syncing the patch to an Android or Apple device.

The app is so incredibly intuitive and thorough. Caregivers can set it to sound an alert when each child reaches a user-set temp that’s particularly high. It continuously senses, records and transmits temperature data for up to 24 hours and compiles it all in a spreadsheet file that can be sent over to the family physician or other members of the family. In addition to the ability to monitor fevers, TempTraq features a notes section to track when a child eats, drinks or takes medicine. I can definitely see my grandmother-in-law using this feature since she usually writes all of these details down when caring for Jayden. Yes, Jayden is usually the one with the cooties, bringing them home from school.

Admittedly, I didn’t realize that the TempTraq patches weren’t reusable until receiving our complimentary samples. The idea is brilliant and the app is wonderful – it actually exceeded my expectations. While I’m glad baby Akilah isn’t under the weather, I really wanted to save our sample patch for a sick day. TempTraq retails for $19.99 per patch or $34.99 for a pack of two. I’d like to request a BOGO, so I can stockpile them away for our sick kit!

What a smart idea! It is so hard to get an accurate fever reading in kids. I need to pick one of these up!

This looks like a lifesaver! It would be so much easier to track their temperature at night instead of waking up wondering if they’re ok. My sons name is Jaxon also :)

I wish they had this when my kids were little! This Temptraq would help reduce the child’s fussiness when they are not feeling well. Great that it comes with an app so good bye thermometers! I’m letting my daughter know about this.

This sounds really convenient for people with young children. My daughter had a child back in April and I think I need to tell her about this.

TempTraq sounds amazing. When my kids were that age, I was worried sick. I also hated having to take their temperature the old fashioned way. =(
