At two weeks postpartum, I am JUST gaining the strength back in my lower back. That means I haven’t spent as much time in the kitchen as I would have liked to. Cooking can be such a chore and I don’t like to do it every day. I usually cook in bulk to make sure that I don’t have to. This saves me from being in a grumpy panic during weeknight’s when Greg and Jayden are screaming “I’m hungry! What are you going to cook? When are you going to cook? I want…” Cooking in bulk also saves me from butchering a meal because I’m rushing to prepare it… like the time I over salted 2 lbs of meatballs because I wasn’t in the right state of mind.
There are also times when I just don’t feel like cooking… on a level of rebellion. Nights like those we turn to takeout. The day before Thanksgiving Eve, I refused to cook… you can understand why, right? Postpartum me cooking two days in a row? How about no. We turned to Carrabba’s to-go options, ordered our meals online and enjoyed them (with dessert!) at the table in our PJs. That’s the best way to dine in my opinion :-).
