Oral Care Challenge: Look Who’s Rinsing

Time seems to be sprinting circles around me. Just four weeks ago (I got my eye on you, time), we committed to taking the Oral Care Challenge with The Motherhood and Listerine. Although we are at the end of the actual challenge, we are at the beginning of having healthier smiles. We have to keep this up!

We were sent a package of toothbrushes, floss (we prefer to Waterpik), and Listerine mouthwashes to help us create healthy oral care habits. Up until the challenge, I’ve almost never used mouthwash. Ever. Maybe five times in a year? Less? And even after seeing Greg use mouthwash religiously, I haven’t been interested enough to start rinsing (says the lady who’s terrified of losing her teeth). It took introducing Jayden to mouthwash to start rinsing myself. Isn’t that how it always goes? I had to set a positive example for him.

I started the challenge by teaching Jayden how to rinse with Smart Rinse and he’s been rinsing like a pro ever since. When he’s done rinsing, he spits into the sink or tub (hey, it’s traveling the same route) and says, “Mmm, that’s is good (that’s good)” The first time Greg saw him rinsing was monumental. It went like this.

Me: Come look.
Greg: How does he know not to swallow it?
Me: Um, I told him not to.
Greg: I’ve never seen him do this before! Look at our little guy!

We stared at him through the entire rinse like he was an exhibit. It was so intriguing watching our baby big boy swoosh away.

Taking the Oral Care Challenge was just what we needed. I’ll admit that on busy days, we do forget to brush and rinse at night, but we definitely make sure to get in our morning rinses in now. *cheese*

I received products and compensation from Johnson & Johnson and The Motherhood as part of my participation in the Oral Care Challenge. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.

    That’s awesome!
After getting a lecture from the dental assistant about flossing, I’ve been trying to do damn better with my teeth. I use those Reach floss thingys–helps me get to the teeth in the way back.
