Mornings With Baby Akilah

IMG_9767

I’m so not a morning person, but I’m learning how to cope at least. There’s something beautiful about mornings, especially when routines and happy babies are involved. I’m starting to cherish mornings. They’re best spent relaxing and tending to home. I try my best not to dive into online tasks at the start of the day unless I absolutely must. I’ve found that working during the afternoon or evening works best, otherwise I’m no fun to be around.

I am usually awoken from my slumber at 7AM to the rapid kicking of tiny feet in my ribs. The tiniest Tatum, my silly girl, Akilah alerts me that she’s ready to party. We co-sleep in segments. She starts off in her co-sleeper at night and then I bring her in bed when she wakes up for her late night/early morning feeding. We start the morning by nursing, then it’s time for a diaper change or Pull-Up change… True story. She slept in one of Juicy’s Pull-Ups because she ran out of diapers. Hey, we get it how we live. #sometimesitbelikethat #parenthack

Next, I let her shake her shimmies on the dance floor and hang out with her toys and brothers. Her brothers were away at their Na Na’s house so today, she had their room all to herself. ♫ Babies just wanna have fun!

After playtime, I feed baby Akilah some of her food or bites from my plate. She’s been persnickety about baby food like her brothers. She prefers table food. I’m trying to get her interested in fruits, but she’d much rather have chicken and rice meals or whatever I’m having. She’s a savory girl.

If we’re bumming around the house, Akilah stays in her onesie or jammies. If we have an outing, then she gets dressed in a pretty outfit and I do her hair. I dressed her in the cutest little outfit by Child of Mine, today. The shirt is printed in lovebirds and the capri pants are pink gingham to match the little ruffle broach on the shirt. I paid $7.94 for the outfit and was tempted to put more in my cart but… self control. The sets are on sale for $6.50 on Walmart.com. I’m still resisting, but you are welcomed to buy. 🙂

I’m still loving the Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk line in Akilah’s hair. As an everyday moisturizer (every 2-3 days), I use the Original Leave-In. I do a little finger detangling and brushing, then I make her a little puff and add a coordinating bow. This is the easiest style since she’s super wiggly.

After pampering, she goes back to playing with her friends until naptime! Then, I attempt to get my life together. More on that later!

What are mornings like with your little ones?

I love your laid back approach to mornings with her. When our son was her age, I would feel like I had to squeeze everything into morning time before my husband left for work.
