Playdate Therapy

Park Day March 10, 2010

Before giving birth to my son, I never thought much about playdates. But after he was born and the months began fly by, I started to realize that my boy was growing up. He needed to be around others so that he could learn from them, grow up with them, and embrace childhood together as friends. Thinking about it all gave me an uncomfortable feeling because that meant that I had to interact with other moms. Moms who would be older than I and more advanced in their lives. Moms that may possibly turn their noses up at me because ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

Primetime’s Teachable Moments: Secrets of The Mountain

The Secrets of The Mountain

Winner Announcement: Congrats to Lisa R! Early last month I as well as several of the Walmart Moms had a chance to sit down with the producers of the Secrets of the Mountain for an exclusive viewing in NYC. Secrets of the Mountain is a television movie produced by Walmart and P&G. I know what you’re thinking, “Oh no, not a cheesy made for TV movie full of product placement.” Well, let me tell you, there is product placement; a little heavy towards the beginning, but this movie nonetheless is very well done. It tells of a single mother and ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

A Simple Easter

Easter 2010

We did Easter last Thursday. We dressed Jayden in a suit that my mother bought him a year ago, filled some plastic eggs with cheerios and fruit snacks, and had a egg hunt in our backyard. He’s gorgeous. And he knows it. More photos on Flickr… How was your Easter?

The post where I talk about gPants, gDiapers, & cloth inserts.

41/365 gdiapers

I’ve gotten quite a few questions about gDiapers, so I’ve decided to share my experience with them. I had been infatuated with gDiapers for quite some time, but I couldn’t justify the price of buying cloth diaper covers and disposable inserts that may not even flush properly down our toilets. I didn’t understand combining both disposable and cloth. It’s one or the other. I thought I may as well continue using cloth diapers with cloth inserts and Seventh Generation disposables. The disposables weren’t biodegradable or flushable, but they were easy on my little guy’s bum and the price was right. ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

Today, I packed his lunch for the first time.

Boogie

We’re going on a picnic, today, to the park. Each mom is bringing lunch for their kiddos. Today, I packed Jayden’s lunch for the first time and I’m wondering if I even packed enough. He’s already had at least 10 slices of deli meat (no lie), a bowl of chips, and half of a peach raspberry muffin in the last hour. Growth spurt, yes?

Today was a veg day.

Yesterday night seemed endless. Jayden hadn’t napped at all during the day and he would not go to sleep at bedtime. He went down twice well past midnight and woke up both times. He finally went down for good around 6am. 6am people. We had to get up at 10am because our landlords stopped by to inspect. Yay. Today was a veg day. We were so slugged out. We had plans to go grocery shopping, but I opted for noodles and Dominos instead. Jayden’s been hijacking my journal for doodles, so we brought out his paper and crayons so that ... I thought The Princess and the Frog would be my babysitter.

And the winners are: Loni (trippyjanet) & Sheila (skkorman)! Congrats! This afternoon I decided to pop in a DVD in hopes of entertaining Jayden while I attempted to get some work done on my laptop. We had received The Princess and the Frog Blu-ray Combo Pack last week, so I thought that would be a good choice. I loaded up the Blu-ray Disc Player and toggled with the surround sound. As soon as the movie began, his eyes instantly became glued to the big screen. I thought, “Ok maybe this could work. For real this time.” He danced to the ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

Dishes in the tub. No food outside of the kitchen.

March 23, 2010 · Life & Quirks · 8 comments

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

The pipes underneath our kitchen sink have cracked and come apart. They are plastic. Genius. Rather than let this disaster come in between our daily tasks. We made lemons out of lemonade. Last night we washed dishes…in the tub. We transported the dirty dishes upstairs in a laundry hamper. Excuse the nasties. It’s flour from cookie dough. I sang random lines from Outkast songs and blurted pieces from stand up comedy shows to stay entertained while washing. Each cleaned dish went into a laundry basket until it was time for Greg to rinse. Someone is coming over tomorrow to repair ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →
