Tell us about your “Nice Save” (money saving tip)!

September 16, 2011 · Life & Quirks · leave a comment

Nice Save is a new application tab on Walmart’s Facebook page that represents Walmart’s commitment to Every Day Low Prices. Each month, Walmart helps its consumers solve a new challenge by connecting them with a community of Facebook fans that have tried-and-true money saving tips. The challenges are each dedicated to a different seasonal theme (the first one is Game Time), and users are asked to submit their solutions within a specific, affordable price point (i.e. Game Day under $50). Some of us Walmart Moms will be hosts of each challenge and Tara of Deal Seeking Mom is up first ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

Three Inspiring Jamaican Female Artists

September 16, 2011 · Life & Quirks · 3 comments

I returned home from Jamaica last Tuesday and I am still reflecting over the fabulous time that I had; the adventure, the laughs, the tears, the inspiration that ensued. I will spare the full nitty gritty and break it all down into a series of post-reflections, but today I want to highlight the lovely female artists I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in the rolling hills. These women inspire me to take my creative works to another level, tap into new genres of creative works even, be free, and also step up my sustainable efforts. These ladies are super talented ... Living The Jetsons Life With Whirlpool Duet

It seems like just yesterday we were setting up our brand-new-to-us washer and dryer that we scored from Craigslist. It was an older Kenmore set from around the early 2000′s. Three years ago, we were basking in the glory of our washer and dryer that would enable us to do laundry in the comfort of our home, without having to drive it over to the laundry facility in our then apartment complex. For a while, we were washing and hanging our clothes up. The dryer needed another power cord suitable for the outlet in our laundry room. It wasn’t a ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

For The Trendy & Stylish Kid: Cookie’s Shopping Haul

As the weather begins to transition from scorching hot, to a gentle cool, and Jayden grows a little taller, I realize that it’s time to do a little shopping to prepare him for the season. Marshalls, Old Navy, and Crazy 8 are the stores that I usually shop for Jayden’s clothing, but I think I will be adding Cookie’s to the list. I was offered the opportunity to do a little shopping at CookiesKids.com. I was slightly familiar with the store, but I assumed that they sold school uniforms (their specialty) and basics. I’m so glad that I decided to ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

Living Feels Good

I’ve been blogging less it seems. Once or twice every 10 days. My internal blogging alarm is naturally set to do so. And there’s a reason for that. I’ve been living and taking the necessary steps to take care of myself and my family. I’ve been less active on Twitter and Facebook, which are common distractions. I’ve also been ignoring my PR requests folder because I have enough going on and it’s just not healthy always being involved in something and falling behind in those things. Not being able to deliver bruises my ego, deep black and blue. I have ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

This is the way we paint inside.

Our days have been filled with painting lately. Outside, inside, and even the tub! Since painting is such a fun activity to do, but can be messy, we try to limit it to outside. But when I decided to paint one of the walls in Jayden’s room one evening, I had to improvise. I let him help out a bit, I mean come on, how fun is it doodling on a wall without being scolded for it? Ha! I felt that he’d appreciate the painted wall in his room even more if he was a part of the experience. So ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →

Grilled Spinach Veggie Pizza

One thing I’ve been meaning to do this summer is cook a pizza out on the grill. Well, Sunday night I decided to do so and it came out sooo yummy and beautiful! It’s been a while since I’ve made homemade pizza and I have been reminded of its deliciousness! Homemade pizza is so simple to make although I feel bouts of laziness set in when it comes to making the dough. So besides the dough, my ingredients include a regular pasta sauce (too lazy to make my own), minced garlic, green pepper, red onion, shredded mozzarella cheese, and a ... Diggin’ Our Bathroom Makeover

In the two years that we have lived in our home, I have resisted the temptation to paint. Oh, how these white walls continue to taunt me. See, I painted a few rooms in two of our previous places and both times that we moved, Greg was stuck doing most of the repainting. Those experiences were so traumatic that I promised him that I would not paint until we became homeowners. Well, it’s kind of hard to live up to that promise with the awesomeness that is Pinterest, a desire to cozy up our home for the cooler seasons (because ... CONTINUE READING THIS POST →
