We’ve gotten quite a bit of snow here in the Midwest. We’re definitely walking in a Winter Wonderland. When the weather outside is frightful, video gaming becomes one of our favorite pastimes. To help get us through an abundance of snow days, we were sent a complimentary copy of Just Dance 2014 to enjoy. We are really impressed with the new release of an already awesome game.
Just Dance 2014 features a variety of some of the hottest pop titles, electronic dance tunes, and even some classics. Gloria Gaynor anyone? I was excited to discover Could You Be Loved by Bob Marley. Oh, oh, oh. *busts a jig* I was most excited about Blurred Lines… turn your nose up if you want, but it’s my jam. Fine China is another favorite. Most songs have three difficulty levels: regular, extreme, or sweat enabling you to learn completely different routines to each of the songs.
Here’s where Just Dance 2014 really shines… online play-ability and downloadable content! On the World Dance Floor, you can join a virtual crew and compete, check fun stats, and receive community updates. With the release of 2014’s downloadable content, you can add more favorites to your music collection. Songs offered in Just Dance’s downloadable marketplace can be purchased as well as downloaded for free. As a heads up, you’ll need to have a credit card on file even if you want to download the freebies. We’ve tried every workaround, but had to cough up the 16 digits. With the implementation of online play-bility and downloadable content, this game never gets old.
Other features include Custom Sweat Mode where you can personalize workouts, track calories, and create custom playlists. The ability to track calories is available in all gameplay modes, even outside of the dedicated Just Sweat mode. Although, I’m not looking to burn any calories, I’m thrilled to see the fitness components being added to the game. When I was first introduced to Just Dance, I thought it’d make a great intro to working out. Dancing is something that we do naturally… it doesn’t take much thought. Before you know it, you’re getting a good cardio workout in disguised as fun.
For a good time with friends, Just Dance includes an On Stage Mode where you can lead two back-up dancers and even sing for the total karaoke experience. You can show off your skills or goof off. Both Jayden and Jaxon thoroughly enjoy playing together. While Jaxon doesn’t grasp the concept, he attempts to join in. He can get pretty turnt up, lol. Oh and a quick note on controls: navigating through the game using Kinect can be a pain, so we just use the Xbox 360 controller.
Just Dance 2014 can be purchased at Walmart for $29.98. It’s a stocking stuffer you don’t want to be without this snowy holiday season! To those concerned about some of the song lyrics, you can pick up Just Dance Kids 2014.
As a participant in the Walmart Moms Program, I’ve received samples and compensation for my time and efforts in creating this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
