Scenes From The Office / Making It Ours On A Budget

Spring Break will be here before we know it and while we don’t exactly have plans, I know what I will NOT be doing and that’s being frustrated with work clutter. One of our problem areas for the longest has been our office. Like I mentioned before, it’s been through many phases. Through all of our attempts to transform the room into a somewhat pleasant space, we found ourselves back to square one… a disastrous catchall.

Here we are two months away from moving and we are finally getting it together. Since we are moving, my visions have changed a bit and include frugal and temporary solutions. So no new furniture, curtains, or bright coats of paint. We’re simply making do with what we have. My Duck Tape desk makeover & vision board? Perfect example of making do.

To continue with my theme of frugal, temp office solutions, I created a little area to organize my thoughts and memos. In order for things to get done, I must write them down in addition to keeping digital reminders. It’s just how I am. Physically writing things down keeps tasks on my mind.

I’ve accumulated notebooks full of to-dos and handwritten blog posts (my new thing to do) and now I need to keep some of the pages front and center. I found a huge bulletin board for $9 at Walmart which works perfectly for this space. To add some character, I hung four clipboards above the bulletin board to display some printables (1/2&3/4). They were only $1.40 a piece, much cheaper and cooler looking than photo frames.

Since I decided against purchasing curtains, I created some make-shift curtains using a white cloth shower curtain and vintage sheet that I thrifted. I clipped both the shower curtain and sheet on to curtain rings for instant and funky window treatments. The rod and rings were another Walmart find for $16. And because I’ve always wanted to string lights in the office, I took some of our white Christmas lights and strung them around the window.

Our office is hodgepodge for sure, but it’s functional and ours. Now that I’ve tidied up, I’ll have one less thing to worry about  while on break… making the return much more pleasant.

As a participant in the Walmart Moms Program, I’ve received compensation for my time and efforts in creating this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

isn't it nice how printables can liven up a room? they are cheap and add so much "bang for your buck" so to speak. Looks great!

Thanks! I love me some printables. Whenever I'm looking for some new artwork, I search for a printable or make my own. It's invigorating!
