scenes from our current home
While out browsing for window treatments, Greg mentioned having to spend so much money returning our place back to what it was. True, but we’ve been here for 5 years, making the changes worth it. We’ll be moving in May with intentions of staying two years or less and then it’s off to our dream location.
I don’t plan on painting at our next place, although I’ll make an exception for a chalkboard wall or two. Painting can be so much fun until it’s time to move, which is why I’m vowing to keep things simple in the next place. I used to have such a phobia of white walls. To me white walls were sterile and screamed, “This is not your HOME!” I was definitely challenged when it came to decorating white walls and paint was my go-to. Now, I’ve fallen in love with Nordic decor trends. I love the fresh, modern vibe and how well the style plays with vintage elements.
In decorating our next home, I plan to go with a Nordic retro look. I love all things vintage and plan on incorporating some beautiful, quality pieces. It’s so true. Furnishings simply aren’t what they used to be and you certainly get what you pay for. I’m hoping to go back to the basics a bit, adding to our sustainable living.
I envision our common living space being a mix between this Havertys inspired room board and the collage beneath it.
I’d love a grey sofa that I could fill with bright and bold colored pillows. I’m digging the Amalfi sleeper from Havertys. Since we’re downsizing, it’d be nice to have a place for guests to sleep. The Merson pillows compliment it perfectly. The Gunter floor lamp and Flair mirror add some retro flare. The Chatham Hill end table adds rustic touch. The yellow Ravenna rug makes it all come together. And because I live for plants, the bamboo tree, lemon topiary, and succulent greenery add some botanical freshness.
I’d like to find a mid-century modern credenza and do lots of gallery walls and decorating with books and plants. Have I mentioned plants? ;-) The boys will have their own little area for their teepee and toys.
I love these ideas for the boys’ room. I want to find a bold geometric print rug for the space, decorate with colorful graphic prints and fabric. I can’t wait to get creative with vinyl wall stickers and washi tape.
I have a Pinterest board filled to the brim with ideas for our next home. I can’t wait until we move, so I can get started.
