So I’ve had a few weeks with my new Miracle-Gro AeroGarden 3SL and I am absolutely smitten. It has been wonderful to have around during the bleak winter here in the Midwest. I had no idea how beautifully my herbs and lettuce would flourish until witnessing with my own eyes!
In about three weeks, I had enough lettuce for family sandwiches and basil for spaghetti sauce. The parsley was slow to grow, so I haven’t harvested any yet. Remember in my initial post I mentioned how I wanted to grow peppers? I went ahead and sat my pepper plant next to the AeroGarden so that it could bum some light. Now that I’ve seen what the AeroGarden can do, I’m ready to get a little advanced.
My next plan is to start some more pepper plants to transplant after the last frost. I’ve discovered that you can use your own seeds with the AeroGarden by using the Grow Anything Kit. You can also use the seed pods you already have by removing the seeds in the sponge and inserting your own. I plan on doing the latter. The AeroGarden 3SL is the gadget of the season (for me at least). I will never unplug it!

Edited to add: My lettuce started to wilt around the 26th day. I discovered that half of the water had evaporated from the reservoir. I had topped it up once before, but it slipped my mind this time around. Be sure to periodically check your water levels and nutrient indicators!
