Storage Cubes Three Ways

I love storage cubes because they are so versatile. You can use them to organize and display a variety of knick knacks, toys… anything. You can style them up or down. The possibilities are endless.

Back in August, I partnered up with Sauder and shared how we used their Storage Organizer to organize and display toys in our living room. We are still using the cubes to display toys but I’ve replaced some toys and added some home decor items and twinkle lights. I also fixed my little middle shelving goof up. Ahh, nice and even. I love how homey our living room looks with the new cube styling.

If you’re wondering about the retro Occasional Chair, it’s also from Sauder. You may remember it from the first phase of our bedroom makeover. I love it SO much.

As I mentioned in August’s post, I purchased two of the Storage Organizers. I knew a second organizer would come in handy, so I reserved it for a prime opportunity which presented itself recently after cleaning my closet.

I’ve been inspired lately by various fashion capsule and closet tour posts. In an effort to create intentional outfits, I’ve been vigilantly organizing my clothes, shoes, and accessories. Organizing and displaying items helps me remember and appreciate what I have. It makes seeing those clothing sales a little less heartbreaking because… bills. And on the rare occasion when I do have a little extra moolah, I’m won’t be tempted to buy one more thing that will become buried in the closet.

At our old place, I had my bags hanging low to the floor from a closet extender. Shoes on the floor (that didn’t fit over the door) were shaded by clothes and bags. The amount of times I’ve worn those items (if at all) in the past four years is pretty sad. To my defense, I don’t go out much since I work from home, so I’m usually in yoga/PJ pants and a tee/hoodie. When I do leave the house, I’m usually in the same pair of jeans and a rotation of maybe five shirts when I have at least 20 of each. Yes, that’s an insane amount of jeans… some of which are set aside for maternity wear. I’ll talk more about my emotional attachment to jeans in a later post.

Adding the storage organizer to my closet is helping me keep inventory of my shoes. It was just tall enough to allow me to hang my bags above it and slip some flats in between. Now, the previously neglected items are front and center and likely to be worn.

The Sauder Storage Organizers have been fantastic for organizing and displaying items in our smaller home. They are incredible space savers and the cinnamon cherry finish adds a modern touch to our living spaces.
