Christmas & A Birthday

To update on the last post, the shelves look great in our living room. I got a couple of things from Marshalls to put on them. I’ll have to post a full picture of them both once I tidy up a bit. Greg’s mother sent me an Amazon gift card for my birthday and I ended up spending it on diapers. Go parenthood! We use more disposables than cloth since Greg prefers them. The bridal set came, but it was too small. I don’t know if my finger got bigger or the jeweler measured wrong. It looks like I need to get the set resized from 4.5 to a 5.

boogonchristmas Our Christmas was pretty quiet. We spent it at home together as a family. I had plans of making a nice dinner just because it was Christmas. I got as far as baking the hen. I was still recovering from being sick, so I really wasn’t in the mood to make the cabbage and cornbread. I ended up making some spaghetti with turkey and shrimp though. We don’t stress gifts, so Greg and I didn’t buy each other anything, well I may have snuck and bought Greg something. We didn’t buy Jayden anything since we had gotten quite a few review items that we let him play with before Christmas. The grandparents bought him some things too. Our goal this Christmas was to just avoid stress at all costs and be grateful for another year together.

Birthday Smoochiez Daddy Greg’s birthday was Monday. The inlaws came over with gifts. We all exchanged and then went out to eat at T.G.I. Friday’s. I got some sexy boots, Wii Sports Resort, and a nunchuck. Greg got money, 4 Wii games, and a clippers set. We still have to swap gifts with my mother. She finally moved, so she’s letting the finances recoup. She keeps telling me our stuff’s gonna be late and I keep telling her it doesn’t matter, lol.

022 Dinner was delish. Greg and I had the Jack Daniels Steak and Shrimp. The waiter was super nice, especially after Jayden launched his cup of water and fries on to the floor. Luckily, most of the fries made it on to Greg’s plate. The waiter scored extra cool points when handling the tip. Usually there’s a mandatory gratuity for larger parties. He took it off because he felt that it was the customer’s choice to tip him. Of course he got a nice tip :) .

When we got home, we broke out the Wii games. We may have played Mario Galaxy a tad past sunrise, heh.

Well, that concludes my ramblings for today. Now it’s time to take down the tree and leap into what the new year holds. I’m so excited! More on my goals for the new year soon, none of which are unrealistic.

Random Parenting Tidbit:
When Jayden is out, he really is out. He fell off the couch Sunday and didn’t budge, lol.

He fell off the couch.

We Moved, Now What?

Last Saturday we moved with the help of Greg’s mom, his step dad, step brother, and brother. The boys loaded up the U-Haul while Greg’s mom watched Boogie, and I cleaned up. We were out of there and moved in to our new place in a few hours.

When we arrived, the water was off. I had set up the water account the day before (smart I know). I hooked it up to our bank account to get out of paying the $50 deposit. So luckily a guy from the water department was in the area. He showed up to turn on the water next door, only they weren’t at home. For some reason, he wound up at our place. He kindly turned the water on for us. We had planned on just sucking it up, boiling some water until Monday. No need for stress. See where positive thoughts get you?

Greg’s mom and stepdad took Boogie back with them for a few days so that we could thoroughly unpack in peace. We were determined to COMPLETELY unpack, something that we always fail to do. Everything has has it’s own place. Anything that we don’t need we are donating or selling. It’s time to let go.

On Wednesday, we did some grocery shopping. As we headed back home, the brakes on our car started to fail. It looks like something’s up with the brake line. We’ll see once a family friend looks at it. We avoid going to local mechanics if possible because they always try to wriggle their way into our pockets by telling us that we have unicorns under our hood and how we should purchase their super deluxe anti unicorn packages. It always seems that something goes wrong when we are trying to get it together. It’s always the car, always is. As much as I want to be pissed, I can’t. I’m trying to stay positive and stress-free. It will work out.

Now that we’ve moved, I don’t know what to do. I know I want to chill out. I don’t feel like being bothered. I just need some time to think. A cruise would be nice. I need to focus more on home. I need to get on my couponing game and I need to start menu planning. Our living expenses are about to increase and I’m kind of on the fence. We need to get married. We keep putting it off. I want to get back in to my hobbies. Last year I spent too much time on the computer trying to get my big break, it was worth it I guess. I guess I still have a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth from a series of events starting around the holiday season of last year. I’ve learned what’s worth my time and what isn’t, who will be there for me and who won’t. I will take my time blogging. If it doesn’t come naturally, then I will not force myself to write. I will not write BS posts just to act as fillers. I will not stress out if a week goes by and I haven’t posted. I’m going to focus on quality over quantity. I am referring to Mommy Daddy Blog. I’m on my way to finding direction.

I got a consulting job and I’m really excited about that. I really want to succeed, so I am trying to get my priorities in order.

Last night while twisting my locks, I found a grey hair. Well, isn’t that fabulous?

I miss personal blogging, I really do…

Coming Together

packing So I’ve been MIA again. My passion goes when things are not in order. I like to blog when things are going right and now they are. We found a place and we are moving in this weekend. Boogie’s grandparents (Greg’s side) kept him Thursday – Sunday so that we could pack up. We made great progress. We could move today if we wanted.

I’m so happy to be settling in a family friendly town, only minutes away, still close to family. It’s funny because this is going to be the second time we’ve moved super close to bloggers. I know that we’ll see more of each other now that my life is coming together.

A lot of things have been up in the air. This past year has been a rollercoaster. The simplest things have come attached with massive hurdles. I’m happy to see everything finally coming together.

new place preview

My mother found a new place too, she may be moving this weekend as well. Too much going on. Expect to hear more from me in the near future.

We’re Moving…Again.

100_0640.JPG

Yep, that’s right you read correctly. We are moving again. I had just started to get comfortable, but this move is for the better. We live in a small rural town. We love the quiet living, but we prefer to be on top of shopping, businesses, good schools, and a hospital. Living right on top of things would cut out all of the extra driving. And in the case of emergency, we won’t be far from the hospital. We are also looking to upgrade our living space so that Boogie can have his own room. What was supposed to be his room is now our office. We are also planning to expand our family in the next year or so.

As much as we hate moving, we are just going to suck it up and get er done like the strong couple that we are. It is time to get a leash on life. So many things have been put on hold after the birth of Boogie, a sequence of events, none of which were his fault.

We let our landlord know about our plans to relocate and she was oh so supportive. I sure hate to leave her. Can you believe that she gave us some rental guides and gave us the low down on bad properties? We trust her because we’ve read some bad reviews of some of the properties that she had mentioned. Who else would have done something like that? I will definitely be back to visit her as well as Jaymi – it’s been how many months? And my semi-hermit self has not come out to play. That’s a story for another day!
