#whirlpoolmoms

Thank Goodness for Quick Wash & Timed Dry Sophistishe mommy blog My time spent as a Whirlpool Mom has seemed to have flown by. Doing laundry in our household has become effortless with the newfangled (as Greg calls it) Whirlpool Duet pair – especially since I have a hubby who does the laundry ;-). Greg has been in charge of laundry for about 5 years now since he was tired of me accidentally shrinking his t-shirts and purposely leaving piles of laundry unfolded. I just hate folding laundry and putting it away. It makes me feel trapped. I shut down and walk away. I tend to do that with quite a few things. Eh.

During our initial trial period with the Whirlpool Duet pair, I drooled over how energy efficient the pair was, their quiet cycles, and precision dispense cup. I used the Duet pair with my own laundry detergent and created a “Dirty Pillows” cycle. I’d have to say that two of my new favorite features on the Duet pair are Quick Wash and Timed Dry. In the middle of packing the night before our trip to NY, I had a new pair of dark denim jeans that needed to be washed before wearing. I usually don’t wash my dark denim before wearing, but this particular pair said to do so. I didn’t want them bleeding on anything so I popped them in the washer for a 20 minute Quick Wash and 20 minute Timed Dry, folded them up and tossed them in our luggage. Had I ran a regular cycle, I probably would have forgotten about them completely, leaving no time to dry them.

I love the convenience of having a front loader washer. It makes washing comforters so much easier. I can just throw a comforter in without having to make a “balanced donut”. I do miss being able to pre-soak in a washer full of water, though. Some of Jayden’s clothes retained residue from the Aquaphor days (long before we received the Duet), so I just put them in the bathtub for a deep soaking. We don’t have to pre-soak often and to that extent, so it’s really no big deal. As with any product, you pick and choose what features are most important. I want to reiterate that the residue problem was due to the heavy use of Aquaphor on Jayden’s Eczema and it had occurred using our old washer.

Living what seems like the Jetson’s Life with the Whirlpool Duet pair has been quite the experience. I am still discovering little gems on the machines. Since they’ve been so good to us, the least I can do is organize and decorate our laundry room a bit, so they’ll feel more at home :).

I wrote this post while participating in a test-drive campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Whirlpool and received a complimentary Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer to facilitate my review. Read my full disclosure policy here.

Dirty pillows? There’s an app for that!

So I thought I’d play around with the My Cycles app on our Whirlpool Duet washer. Up until now, we haven’t really needed to do so. We had some pillows that were in need of a deep cleaning. I couldn’t dare put clean pillow cases on seasoned (nicely put) pillows, so it was time for them to head to the Duet for some pampering. I created a cycle called “Dirty Pillows” now renamed “White Pillows” which combines both the Bulky and Whitest Whites cycles. I poured some bleach in the bleach compartment, started my custom cycle, and waited for our ...

Lately, I’ve been brushing up on my domestic skills and I recently started making my own HE laundry detergent that works great in our Whirlpool Duet washer. Instead of talking about custom cycles as originally planned, I’d like to share my laundry detergent recipe instead. Before I get into the recipe, I’d like to update a bit on the our Duet pair. They are still serving us well and we are quite pleased with them. We haven’t created any custom cycles since we are content with the built in suite of cycles. So yeah that kind of skewed my plans ...

Living The Jetsons Life With Whirlpool Duet

It seems like just yesterday we were setting up our brand-new-to-us washer and dryer that we scored from Craigslist. It was an older Kenmore set from around the early 2000′s. Three years ago, we were basking in the glory of our washer and dryer that would enable us to do laundry in the comfort of our home, without having to drive it over to the laundry facility in our then apartment complex. For a while, we were washing and hanging our clothes up. The dryer needed another power cord suitable for the outlet in our laundry room. It wasn’t a ...

Hello August (In Bullets)

019-2

As I sit and write this, I am fatigued, only capable of speaking in incomplete sentences. Left. Widget. Up. There. Chips. Okay. Sit. Hush. I am burnt out, but hanging in there. There’s so much more that I crave in life and for this blog of mine, and I’m working behind the scenes to be a better mother, wife, sister (trying to figure that out), friend, and blogger. One minute, I’m one big ball of happy and the next, I feel like a loser. And it’s ongoing. So much good happening, but very little time to manage it all. I’m ...
