30 Green Days / Thrift To Reduce Carbon Footprint

Thrifting is something that I’ve been doing ever since I was a little girl. Growing up in a single parent household made thrifting a necessary for survival. Nowadays it’s like the best thing since sliced bread. At any rate, thrifting is a really great way to reuse items reducing energy and emissions used to produce and transport product materials.

Since this week of the #30GreenDays challenge is all about reusing, I’d like to share a few items that I’ve thrifted. Whenever I’m in the market for something, I always look for used options first. When the boys need clothes, I thrift. Kids grow so fast that it makes no sense to buy everything retail or sale for that matter when you thrifting as an option.

Here are some items that I thrifted a few years ago for Jayden.

I picked up some amazing vintage outfits for Jaxon last spring.

I scored some Caboodles from the 90’s a many years ago. They house my makeup and nail polish. I’m always on the lookout for Pyrex and other vintage glass. The photo above shows a tiny glimpse of my finds.

Here are some toys I picked up for $2 apiece. Our Village Discount store is always overflowing with toys.

I found a vintage sheet at a local shop and used it as a window curtain in the office. It was far too beautiful not to display.

I hope you enjoyed these thrift shares! When thrifting, also consider yard sales, and sites like Etsy, Craigslist, Bonanza, eBay and thredUP. By thrifting, you can reuse someone else’s “trash” as your treasure and ticket to making the environment a little better.

P.S. The piggy bank in the featured photo was thrifted too. ;-)
