Guidecraft Train Toy Box

guidecraft train toy box

We recently received a very special train toy box for Jayden courtesy of Guidecraft. We were excited to replace our old toy storage for something more practical. The toy storage we had been using wasn’t able to accommodate his larger toys and its bins spent more time on the floor rather than on the racks; so did the toys.

We couldn’t wait to unbox this fabulous new toy box and put it together. Naturally, I cringe whenever I have to assemble anything, but the instructions, which are also available on the product page, were very simple to follow. Greg, Jayden, and I assembled nine solid wooden pieces and two hinges with a whole ‘lotta screws in less than an hour.

Guidecraft’s train toy box is built to last. Like I mentioned, the wood pieces are solid, so the toy box weighs a good 40lbs. But don’t let its weight scare you, it sits on wheels so that it can easily be rolled all around the house. This also adds to its character in addition to its hand-crafted detail and use of primary colors. It really helps spark imaginative play.

Jayden enjoys opening his new toy box to reveal all of his toys and then making sure it’s closed once storing them away. The built in safety hinge and cutouts under the lid ensure that his fingers aren’t pinched during the process. He is now more likely to put up his toys. And they are off the floor and out of sight. Not to mention having a big ‘ol rolling train filled with toys in the playroom is pretty cool to say the least. It doesn’t get any better than that.

OMG, that is sooooo cute!! My kids have a Geotrax train set that I have gone crazy with. I think we have about 6 kits and various parts that I bought off Ebay. It is all currently in a big plastic storage tub, but this would be perfect! Might make a good bday present. Hmmm…

That is a fantastic toy box - one of the most creative ones that I've seen, in fact! I wonder if they have other themed toy boxes...I'm going to bookmark the site right now for future reference.

We just saw the new Guidecraft products for 2010 at the Western Toy and Hobby Show last weekend in Long Beach CA. They have an upholstered toy box that is incredible! We've been working with the great people at Guidecraft for about 7 years and they always provide great service and are super nice. Most of the new products are not coming out until around June but you can see them on our site at http://www.sensoryedge.com/guidecraft-2010.html.
