What’s In Our Diaper Bag?

I’ve never been one to really use a diaper bag. I’ve been pretty content with stuffing a few diapers, some wipes, and a pair of pj’s in my purse. Theme park and carnival season is among us. Now that we have a toddler and a baby, day-long outings require a little more preparation. On days when we spend an extended amount of time from our truck stocked with extras, bringing a diaper bag makes sense.

The Diaper Bag

We’re currently using the Forma backpack by Skip Hop. It makes everything easier. It’s perfect for traveling and days spent at theme parks. It has plenty of space and compartments for both Akilah and Juicy’s things as well as my purse essentials and DSLR camera.

What’s In Our Diaper Bag?

What we pack in our diaper bag depends on where we’re going. During our trip to Disney World, we had a little of everything since we didn’t have a car to return back to for supplies.

1. Changing Pad – Changing pads usually come with diapers bags. Ours came with a changing pad that we never leave without.

2. Diapers/Training Pants – It wouldn’t be a diaper bag without the diapers!

3. Baby Wipes – Baby wipes are the bomb. We use them to wipe butts, hands, mouths, and whatever else needs a wipin’.

4. Hand Sanitizer – Germs are everywhere. Need I say more? Okay, we’re not total germaphobes, but it’s nice to be able to eliminate the germs we come in contact with, especially before eating.

5. Disposable Diaper Sacks – It’s rare that we need to place dirty diapers in a bag since there’s usually a trashcan nearby, but who wants to be stuck with the possibility of an uncovered stinky diaper?

6. Muslin blanket – Muslin blankets are great for a variety of things. And to think after three babies, I’m just now realizing their greatness. We use them to provide shade from the sun and warmth on chilly days. They also make the best nursing covers.

7. Extra Outfits – I love Walmart’s Child of Mine and Garanimals sets. They are inexpensive so I don’t mind them sitting in the bag ready to be worn “just in case” of blowouts and spills.

8. Hair Brush – Babies tend to get flat hair while traveling in car seats and strollers. We pack a hair brush to freshen up the do before snapping photos.

9. Mini First Aid Kit – Boo boo’s are bound to happen when there’s toddlers involved. We always have band-aids, antiseptic wipes, and ointment on hand in addition to a travel thermometer, teething tablets, infant pain reliever, and allergy meds.

10. Snacks – You never know who’ll get hungry before mealtime. Granola bars, pretzels, and crackers are our goto snacks.

11. Water Bottle – We carry around a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated and avoid paying for bottled water.

Well there you have it, the contents of our diaper bag. What’s in yours?

I don't have kids and I never realized how much thought went into buying a a diaper bag. I would certainly need one to help me be organized cause I imagine my bag would be a hot mess!

I don't have any children yet but one of my close friends is expecting. I'll pass this article along to her as she is always looking for websites from a mothers perspective.

I remember the days of carrying a diaper bag. I had pretty much everything you just listed. For whatever reason I always forgot about the changing pad.

You're so organized...I love it! I hope I can stay on top of things the same way when we have kids. You have a beautiful family.
