Google Science Fair Will Award Scholarships

You read right. Google is having a Science Fair! Google is looking for the brightest and best, young scientists from around the world to submit interesting and creative projects relevant to the world today! By entering the Google Science Fair, students ages 13-18 can compete for scholarships, LEGO prizes, and a National Geographic Expedition!

The deadline for project submissions is April 4th, 2011. In early May, 60 global semi-finalists will be announced and their projects will be posted online and open to public voting for the “People’s Choice Award”. The 60 global semi-finalists will then be narrowed down to 15 global finalists, who will be announced later in May. The 15 global finalists will be flown to Google HQ in California for the celebratory Science Fair event, followed by a finalist judging round that will take place on July 11th, 2011. These finalists will present their projects before a panel of acclaimed scientists including Nobel Laureates, tech visionaries, and household names. There will be 3 finalists; one in each age category: 13-14, 15-16, 17-18. One of the 3 finalists will be selected as the lucky Grand Prize winner which includes a $50,000 scholarship and 10 day trip to the Galapagos Islands with National Geographic Expeditions!

Does your child have a genius idea for a science project? Submit! Detailed instructions and tips for project submissions are available on the Resources section of the Google Science Fair website! Good luck :)!

I have been compensated for the time and effort it took to write and share this initiative with you.
