This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Glad, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #pressnsealhacks http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a kids craft project. Now that summer’s here, I’m feeling inspired to do so… plus I kinda need to keep the lil’ dudes busy. The boys love playdough and can spend hours on end creating and being immersed in imaginative play. Instead of ordering another box of Play-Doh or modeling clay, I decided to whip up a batch of our own.

jello

This is a project that has been on my todo list for a while. When I learned that using Jello would yield great results, I HAD to give it a try. Using Jello as “the secret ingredient” eliminates the need for food coloring and scented oils.

Materials

1 cup warm water
1/4 cup salt
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 3oz pack Jello
1 cup white flour

Instructions

In a medium sized saucepan, thoroughly mix everything together, leaving the flour for last. Gradually add flour while mixing to avoid clumping. Cook mixture over medium heat and stir until you are able to form a ball.

Remove dough from heat and place on a floured surface to cool. Once cool, knead dough, adding flour as needed until it is no longer sticky. Repeat these instructions for each color until you have a rainbow of playdough!

Tip #1: I like to keep our playdough in a plastic shoe box. To lock in moisture and keep each color from sticking to each other, I sealed each color in Glad Press’n Seal wrap. We found ours at Walmart.

Tip #2: Not only is Glad Press’n Seal great for sealing, it makes a great surface for messy crafts. I laid some out on our kitchen table and taped it down with some painter’s tape. This is a great way to keep the dough from sticking to the table and protects it from the use of tools and cutters.
