Staying Warm: Lands’ End Cire Down Parka

The weather here in the midwest has been surprisingly moderate although we’ve had a few unpredictable bitter days. The temps have stabilized and coat weather is definitely here to stay. After taking the Quality Coat Challenge last year, I’ve become a huge fan of Lands’ End. I ended up wearing the black Lands’ End coat all winter. And as much as I gushed over the cream Nautica coat, it just wasn’t a very practical choice for me. It was a little too fancy. I let it sit in the closet in fear of ruining it.

This year, I was offered one of Lands’ Ends best down jackets; the Cire Down Parka. I was in the mood for a little color, so I chose a pretty currant color. Now, I’m longing for the wine color too.

Excuse this afternoon’s tired face. It’s hard out here for a preggo.

I love this parka. The fit (regular sizing) meets my criteria. The arms are long enough and the coat covers my bum. I’m grown and it ain’t all about looking cute anymore, so the cheeks must be covered. The overall fit is also flattering and the removable belt helps give the parka a nice, feminine shape. I don’t touch anything that’s tailored to fit rectangles, so I really appreciate when brands take the time out to stitch and gather to accentuate curves. And yes, I had to do some major belly stuffing for obvious reasons, but the fit is yummy, regardless.

The Cire is lightweight, but very warm. I don’t like to sweat and I usually do when I’m wearing too much. The Cire is perfect. Some hidden gems actually went into the process of designing this warm, lightweight parka; Ciré Down which delivers shiverproof style and 600 fill power down which adds warmth without weight. Some other things the Cire features, which seem to be the Land’s End standard are: two-way zipper, wrist lining, and a detachable hood with removable faux fur trim.

The Cire Down Parka is an awesome coat, which I will be frequently wearing this season. It’s currently marked down from $159.00 to $79.99 at Landsend.com! You can take advantage of the savings or enter to win one below!

Hello! I loved your review on this coat. I'm making the move to Chicago in less than a year and am on the hunt for a durable yet stylish coat. Curious: what size did you purchase yours in? I'm about 5'8" (I also have really long arms) and was wondering whether to get the parka in a Tall Small or Tall Medium. Thanks!

Hi Leea,

I'm wearing a size XS regular. I'm 5'5ish with long arms. Tall wouldn't hurt!
