I’m always looking for new ways to add protein to my diet especially since I am nursing. Since I am of the slender variety, nursing can wreak havoc upon my body if I am not eating properly. I experienced that first hand nursing Jayden. As a first-time mom, I found myself forgetting to eat or not eating enough. The end result was a baby topping the charts (yay!), but me being terribly unhappy with my body. This time around, I am more conscious about what I’m eating, although I have slipped up a bit in the last few months. Stress won’t let me be great. Nursing moms require 20 grams more protein per day to support milk production Six Star’s protein shakes and bars have help me meet that requirement. Six Star protein smoothies and bars are new and exclusive to Walmart and through my partnership with Walmart, I’ve received samples which I’ve torn through. I’m a little embarrassed to say that I don’t have a high quality photo of the bars. They were that darn delicious. I could have SWORN I photographed them… but I think that was around the time my external flash died. I got sidetracked and life happened.
Anywho. The protein bars are available in Chocolate Peanut Butter and Chocolate Deluxe. Omnomnom. They offer 20 grams of premium protein, are trans fat free with a price of $.98. They have been a savior on busy days. The protein smoothies are considered an all-in-one smoothie packed with vitamins and minerals. I love how rich in nutrients Six Star smoothies are as I can definitely benefit from them. They deliver more vitamin C than a serving of apples, broccoli, oranges, spinach, and blueberries combined. They’re also plant-based, lactose-free and include 15 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber, 21 vitamins & minerals, omega-3 fatty acids, probiotics & digestive enzymes for $9.97 per bag. As far as taste, I’ll say that it’s acquired. I needed to blend the powder with lots of fruit as it is very sweet mixed in water. I’ve have quite a few protein powders and while the taste is a little sweet on this one, I’ll still drink it for its nutrient richness. I’ll most definitely be re-upping on the protein bars.
