Staying Healthy During Hectic Times

Back to School season truly snuck up on us and it has proven to be a hectic time as we adjust to new routines. Often times, we tend to neglect simple necessities that impact our health when things pick up in pace. With school in session, it’s vital to continue nurturing our bodies. It’s been two weeks since school started, and in our household we are focusing on a few things to maintain good health. Here are a few.

Get Quality Sleep – The average person needs about 8 hours of quality sleep. I tend to sleep 10 hours. Going to bed on time and waking fully rested makes for an emotionally well and productive day. We take advantage of naps if needed because sleep is a glorious thing.

Drink Enough Water – We (excluding baby Jax) are water guzzlers. Drinking at least eight cups of water per day can increase your cognitive function up to 30%. Drinking plenty of water ensures that your brain gets all the oxygen necessary to function at optimum levels.

Get Moving – We are currently in the process of planning a workout routine. We plan to take a morning walk after school drop off and doing a short workout after the walk. We’re leaning towards T25 since it’s only 25 minutes.

Use Herbs & Essential Oils – Teas are refreshing and are rich in antioxidants. I have a cupboard full of different blends that Jayden and I enjoy multiple times a week. Essential Oils possess many healing properties. We use lavender for its calming properties and frankincense for mental clarity.

These are some natural ways we keep common illnesses and funky moods at bay. What about seasonal allergies? Good question.
