Thanksgiving Glitter Leaf Wall Display

thanksgivingglitterleaf1

Raise your hand if you decorate for Thanksgiving. Most of us don’t, right? After Halloween, I usually start decorating for Christmas, putting poor ‘ol Thanksgiving in the corner. Last year, I did do a little Thanksgiving decor craft. Since I had already put up some things for Christmas, I didn’t want both seasons to clash. I decided on a simple Gratitude Leaf Garland out of kraft paper featuring a little glitter and feathers. It was an easy way to add a festive pop for Thanksgiving.

This year, I was craving MORE glitter, so I created a wall display using leaves foraged from my front yard. I set out to find artificial leaves at Walmart, but they had been replaced by all the Christmas trimmings… so I improvised. I did grab some glitter on my craft supply hunt and I was tempted to grab all.the.glitters. The Sulyn Glitters are so adorable and they are stack-able, fueling my need to collect them all.

Anywho. I had a lot of fun designing this project. I hope you all enjoy this tutorial and FREE printable I’ve shared down below. Let’s get started!

Extra Fine Glitter ($3.27 in-store)

Instructions

Decorate each leaf to your heart’s desire with paint and glitter. Brush on some Mod Podge glue and dust glitter over the glue. Set leaves aside to dry for 15 minutes. After the leaves have dried, dab a drop of hot glue on the back of each of leaf and attach a piece of yarn to it. You can create a mobile by tied the yarn around a branch or embroidery hoop, or you can do as I have done by taping them to the wall surrounding framed art.

I darkened up the triangles a bit in the downloadable version.
